Do you remember the story of the Three Little Pigs? Of course, you do!!! How about Little Red Riding Hood? Again... silly question. The real question is what does the wolf represent to you? He's obviously portrayed as the "bad guy". I remember watching cartoons as a child were the wolf stalking Little Red sported a Zoot Suit and watch chain... I don't think the sexual undertones were lost on me, even as a child! He was the enemy of chastity and "decency". He represented the lascivious nature within us. Wolves represent that aspect of ourselves that hounds us. (nice pun, huh?) It is an aspect that scares us or might be considered dangerous to our Self.
The real question is, what is YOUR big bad wolf. What scares you into staying at home and "hiding"? Literally or proverbially, all of us have a wolf. You're wolf will stalk you and convince you NOT to call about that job opportunity that could be the greatest experience you've ever had.. or they could tell you how under qualified you are and laugh you out of their office. The wolf tells you they will laugh! The wolf wants you to be afraid and stay right where you are!! He thrives on the fear and regret. Exploring your world is a dangerous endeavor!! There are WOLVES out there!!
Well, nothing great has ever come without a little danger. That danger can simply be the uncomfortable sensation of leaving your comfort zone. It is no less real. All fear is "in your head"anyway, so don't berate yourself for your fear. Face it for the wolf that it is and deflate him. I promise you will feel so invigorated and strong for wrestling your wolf!
Wrestle a wolf today! Be the mighty hunter, grab your fear and set it aside. Take a deep breathe and keep walking! Keep going! There will be another wolf around the corner and, next time, you will be even braver, STRONGER to push the next one out of the way.
