Okay, let's face it. We aren't really a character in a movie or a novel, where only the highlighted moments of our lives are panned to a magnificent close up. You have to/get to live every breathing moment of your life.
So, are you happy and love your story or do you wish you could change the channel?
Overall, it would be much healthier and ideal if you generally loved your story. I'm sure you wished you loved your story. Who wouldn't, right?
There was an article I read recently about drug addiction.

They did experiments on rats who were offered drugged water versus plain water. The more boring and cruddy the cage, the stronger the pull was to do drugs. That is, of course, an oversimplification. But, I think we can all derive a life lesson from it. We all want a happy cage. So, let's work to change your cage.
I'll use myself as an example.
I didn't like my "cage" because I felt like I was responsible for all of the cooking, all of the cleaning, all of the maintenance for my family of five. It left me little to no time for personal pleasures. I had to pull away and let others carry some weight. My three sons now roll the dice to see who's turn it is for dish detail. It started as once a day. Once they became accustomed to that routine, all i had to do was say, "Okay, who's on dish detail?" No matter what time of day. I did it yesterday with the morning dishes for the first time and it was LUXURIOUS!!! My point is that if you feel burdened with responsibilities, don't be the martyr! It is okay to ask for help and it doesn't make you weak! It takes strength to lift a burden from your shoulders!
Now that you have made a little time for yourself, USE IT!~ Don't fill this glorious gift with boob tube time or mindless fluff. Get your hands dirty with something real. Create something. Move your body. Do something real. We spend so many hours in front of a computer and time slips away.
Now that you have made the time and you are filling it with joyful creating of ANY kind that you are passionate about... Don't stop! Don't let those grouchy negative recordings dictate the worth of your creativity. "That looks terrible! Why are you painting? I don't even know what that blobby thing is!!!" "Why bother doing a push up, fat a**! It's not going to help!!! Just go watch television." Don't listen to these echos of painful relationships. Someone said something to you and you deemed it important enough to lay down in a lifelong Beratement Recording. Well, you just tell your recordings to shut up! Even if you have to speak out loud, "You know what? Doing one push up today is awesome so stick it!" You will be surprised how a little retort will subdue the ole recording studio!
To recap, let's see how we are going to start changing our "cage" to be a happier inhabitant of our life! (like how I didn't just refer to us as rats!)
1. Lighten your load
2. Do something REAL with your time.
3. Revolt against those negative voices in your head!
